Steps To Be Followed While Learning to Drive

Driving, just like any other actions has become a part of everybody’s life. Almost. It has become very important to learn driving these days as one never knows when it will come handy. There are different kinds of cars with different features and facilities; it will take time to study, and one might not get hands on to, everything of it, but one can at least learn to drive a normal car. It cannot be a tedious effort, especially for those who have seen and noticed others drive. * The car in which anybody is learning to drive should be in a very good condition with a special emphasis on the brake, clutch and accelerator of the car. But if the car is not in a very good condition and if a service is due, then it is better that the car is taken for servicing once the learning process is over, as during the learning period, it is possible that the new driver can bring some damage to the car.
* In the initial stage of driving, choose an open ground, where there aren’t many people or much trees around, to learn driving.
* Never attempt to drive a car without anyone’s help. Either take admission in a driving institution or take help from someone who is an expert in driving.
* Get accustomed to the different car parts that you will be using while you are learning to drive.
* Always wear a seat belt when learning to drive.
* Knowing the traffic signs theoretically and practically will be an added advantage in obtaining a driver’s license. So before preparing to learn driving, know all the traffic signs.
* It is important to know the functionality of each car parts while learning to drive.
* The instructor who is teaching to drive a car should be patient and should not panic as it will deter or send wrong signals to the driver who is learning to drive.
* On getting a learners’ license, always carry it along while going for a driving class. Stick an ‘L’ board on the car, both in front of the car and behind it, so that others are aware that the driver is in the learning stage and therefore will be cautious.
* The instructor should always sit in the front seat with the driver. He shouldn’t be sitting behind and giving instructions, as this will divert the driver’s concentration. It is also important because he can help the driver drive until he gets a proper steering balance. It should be the instructor who should concentrate more than the driver because if he fails to guide the driver at the right time, it might end up in an accident.
* In most of the driving institutions, the car is customized in a way that the instructor will have a brake and clutch for his use in the co-passenger’s seat. But in a normal car, the hand brake is the only factor that will save the car from meeting with an accident. So always make sure that if the driver fails to use the brake the instructor should use the hand brake.
* The driver should be always seated in a very comfortable position before he starts to drive. The comfortable seating position of each driver varies and it is up to the driver to adjust his seat in such a way that he has a proper outside view.
* The driver should first be taught to start and stop the car. During the initial days he should not be left to drive at a speed higher than 20kmph as he might not get control over the vehicle. He should be taught to drive at a higher speed gradually as he gets control and confidence over his driving.
* With indicators and other modern facilities hand signals are been used very rarely, but it is always important to know them.
* The rear view and side mirrors should be set according to the visibility of the driver and he should know to drive, looking at the mirrors, judging other vehicles. And for this, the most apt exercise would be to practice reversing the vehicle. It would be a two-in-one process, as the driver will learn to reverse the car and will use the mirrors in the same time.
* Music can be soothing but sometimes it can be distractive also. So if you love to listen to music but finds as a hindrance in concentrating in driving the car then turn it off.
* Even while one is learning to drive a car, one should know all the traffic rules and should obey them.
* When in first gear, never drive the car in a speed over 20 kms per hour, likewise, the gear should be changed whenever necessary.
* Horn should be used appropriately. Never honk the horn unnecessarily as it may irritate others in the road.
* While crossing a road look both sides and then drive forward. Never look only to the front and proceed, vehicles coming from other sides may collide with the car.
* Do not learn driving after sunset. But when driving for the first time at night always is double careful as it is tougher to drive during night than in day.
